COURSE DETAILS

This is particularly good for BASI members who wish to improve their technique in preparation for their International speed test.

Winter training takes place in Seefeld a small resort it has big advantages over many of its rivals. Many national teams (Germany, Austria, Australia, USA and Britain) and younger FIS racers choose to train at Seefeld because the artificial snow base is so well prepared and maintained it gives the optimum quality surface for racers. Within a short distance from Seefeld there are 3 other ski areas Kühtai, Jerzens and Pitztal Glacier with the same high standard of snow, which give racers the opportunity to ski a variety of terrains.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • The focus will be on educating athletes to train effectively and develop the individual
  • Develop the understanding of training principles
  • Realising your own ability and how to develop this
  • Decide your goals and how you are going to achieve your goals
  • Be realistic and develop your own training program
  • Each trainee will receive an action plan to help and develop their future training

Our training program is tailored to the individual, at the start of each course the trainer will discuss with their group what the goals are over the week of training. All our training includes ski technique, in and out of gates, line and speed through the gates, fitness (mental and physical) and pre race day preparation leading up to race day. This course will also compliment and help the candidate towards their BASI grade I and II technical training in future and understand how we learn and get the most out of ourselves and progress.

The modern philosophy in Austrian skiing is to give younger racers more mountain skills by letting them ski in different situations and not over concentrating on skiing through courses. The Austrians have found that changing the emphasis away from skiing race courses and back towards technical skills has brought about improvements in race times.
